I would give anything for adventure if you would give everything for love.

Losing You

Your rough-hewn texture grates at my palms
But your gentle caress wraps itself around me
Enveloping
even tighter now than in the past.

I’ve grown so much over these years
and always you’ve stretched to accommodate me
Expanding, flexing, holding me
Protecting
Scars riddle your frame,
lovingly patched with candy red lips.
Dirt ingrained right into your very core

no amount of scrubbing will erase the years.

Endless camping trips and sleepovers have left their mark
Winding signatures of an enchanted past
Shaping, with love
An atmosphere.

Worn now, down to the quick
A poster icon for every child
never given a proper chance.
You lasted longer than anyone thought.

Soft now
My tears have broken you down.

Mother tells me it’s time to get rid of you
I need to move on with my life

but how could I forget

how could I leave you behind

my favourite pair of jeans
Ever since grade nine.
