I would give anything for adventure if you would give everything for love.

All God's Children

There she goes
The undefined spirit
Not judging, only absorbing
Seeing and sensing and maybe
Almost comprehending
Floating, rolling, falling, flying
She dances through her trip
Free
God say what?

There she goes
Heavily pierced and freshly tattooed
Tough and strong she glares
Dare you to go near her
Dare you to touch her, get in her way
Get burnt
She’s Broadway street trash
Down dark alleys, from dark places
Keep the kids away from her
She doesn’t know who God is
He never did anything for her.

There she goes
Confident, smiling, always in charge
The natural leader
Understanding
She knows her God, she knows
His people
She’ll take care
She knows the way
She knows by faith
But underneath she knows she’s really
A fake.

There she goes
Lost, confused, starting to falter
She’s at the door of a wide open world
The line won’t slow down, the masses
Shove her gracelessly through
She’s making decisions now
She’s venturing down a path
She wishes she could remember
What it’s like to have parents
She’s in love and terrified of what it means
Where this will go
She wishes it would all make a little more sense
She wishes she could remember
How she lost touch with her God and just where
She left Him behind.

Here she comes
Broken and sobbing beyond empty and numb
She’s torn and bleeding, she needs to know she’s alive
She’s split with uncertainties and nagging regrets
She wishes she could remember when
It all started to fall apart
When she divided into four different identities
She’s drifted away and fallen behind
She doesn’t know herself, let alone
The Lord
All she knows now is that she can’t do it
Alone.

Here they come
Four ragged identities crawling as one
Desperate to return to the Maker
Desperate to meet the Redeemer
Desperate to know that they are loved
Desperate to know that she
All of her
All different parts, the good and the bad
Unconditionally, unexclusively
Is loved.
