I would give anything for adventure if you would give everything for love.

Montréal

Bare feet up on the railing
Reclining on a torn-out van seat
Metal staircase spirals beside me
Daylight fades at last;
Sun rays withdrawing through the treetops
Indian spices and BBQ waft.

The man in the suite across the courtyard
chatters in French and uncorks some wine.
Balcony doors flung open to the world,
swimsuits drying on the clothes line.
Dusk settles in, lamps spark to life
Guitar chords strum from somewhere behind me.

Tanned, sexy, and comfortably exhausted
from a long day of relaxing in the park
my friends cuddle and nap on a blanket,
their faces
always glowing, never clean -
Layers of dried sweat, blowing sand,
and kisses from the sun.
Just a little bit sticky
and bathed in campfire smoke.

I inhale grilled meat aromas, summer leaves,
grass of more than one kind
Smile from the depth of my soul.
Although I will continue to wander
Looking for just what, I'm not sure -
In this moment, I'm content just to be
Just for right now I am home.
