I would give anything for adventure if you would give everything for love.

A Rare and Wild Breed

Going to church in an Ativan haze
She's got a Bible belt with a buckle like Texas
Trainhopping and cursing
with dumb luck and a knife in her boot
Drifting over barren rocks
and challenging vacant stares
Firefly woman takes an RV by horseback
Kicking up a dust storm
May never come back.

She's chasing a desert, she attacks at dawn
Scorpions, French mustaches, and capital Qs
Hard drinkin' dusty workin' woman
Whiskey bottles and cigarette flares,
sharp in the fading moonbeams
With war paint on canvas, she's all dressed in leather
Memories of a moment
Honeychile in heaven s'all be better.

Now silhouettes overtaking the shadows
Cactus presiding on plantain plains
Opiates and ayahuasca, lipstick in the sand
With guitar wire and razors, fading into the past
An old country song with the guts to bleed
We've got rattlesnake hide
and street anesthetic
God-fearing and afraid of nothing
My girl's a rare and wild breed.
