My heart's in British Columbia, proverbial land of cherries
Soaring off mountain tops, plunging through valleys
Riding the hitching pack atop your jeep
Wrestling with puppies, bedazzled by waterfalls
Hanging on clifftops, inhaling the majesty.
I know every wandering soul you meet
The hitchhikers and fruitpickers
Treeplanters and surfers
Undocumented Mexicans living in vans
with pretty hippie girlfriends
Shameless spirits on nude beaches in Van
Drug dealers drug counselors
Brokenhearted and high on love
Getting lost to find the path
Hobos and punks and festival folk
Drunk at 10 AM, just because
Dropping out to find God
and madly sincere
With suntan lines and snaky hips
Flushed on LSD with hot sacks of wine
Mineral salts, hot springs and caves
Ferries and islands, living the dream.
I know them, I love them, I live with and through them
Gods of summer, set me free!
Writing poetry, being inspired, dancing in the rain
Blatantly procrastinating
Remove my books from the sill 'cause I won't
shut the window to be trapped behind glass
Open to the downpour, gleeful in the melee
A wood nymph, a pixie, perhaps a madwoman
Giddy and on fire, I laugh! 'cause I'm free
