I would give anything for adventure if you would give everything for love.

Snapshot

At first glance you're
Whimsical, beautiful, and free
Frozen in time, this waterfront photo
I begin to write a comment
about how I hope your soul can forever be
as beautiful and free as you appear here
now that you're released to the cosmos
returned to the earth
But as I gaze into those pixel eyes
I can see the murky depths that always stirred
The bittersweet, fumbling in darkness, hiding the pain
Wondering where to go, and if there's any point
at all
You could get carried away on a wind, on a storm
and you did in the end
And I can't help but feel
you didn't run away from anything
The ambiguity, the darker side
The macabre, the twisting abyss
The grasping at straws, the futility
I can't help but wonder
Did it follow you
wherever you've gone?
