I would give anything for adventure if you would give everything for love.

Tear Gas and Heartbreak

Lovely warm night that gets you wet
all over without noticeable rain
The stunningly gorgeous maritime autumn
teases your camera in Saskatchewan.

Riots and spray paint echo in my mind
as I read your lipstick-sealed letter
My heart
drops out through my stomach and explodes into the atmosphere
Some pieces landing on Wreck Beach in Vancouver
Some on your balcony in an empty gin bottle
Some right in your lap
Please collect them, they're yours now
I just entreat
Watch out for tear gas and heartbreak.

Drunkenly lost in the woods in the rain
A moonlit adventure through forest with wine
Standing on a stump, I regale them with the tale
of that time we got drunk on the riverbank
with your cunt colouring book in the dark
We coloured blind, then you flipped on a
keychain flashlight and said,
"Wow, you actually managed to colour in the lines!
...Not that I encourage that sort of behaviour!"

Yeah, watch out for tear gas and heartbreak.

Went to class just to sleep through it all
With wooden pillow, dreaming of you
Gliding through fog in a hushed walk home
Collecting wet leaves of every fall colour
Alone I finish this .40 of rye
that drunked me already through
two cheap one-night stands just this week
A pale comparison against the memory of you.

Lonely but comfortable road cuddles
from a stretch of highway west outta Halifax
Tripping out on the morning dew
This night started with mushrooms and kittens
Next thing you knew we're tied at the knees
hobbling around with a box of red wine
3-legged race style and high as a kite
Psychedelic bandits, god I miss you.

You're drinking a pint, 4:30 on a Monday
Listening to Nirvana and thinking of me
Sending me thoughts of soul music, sunshine,
and dust devils spinning, spinning round
I'll aerosol this image on factory walls
Your pretty eyes under disco ball lights
Fireworks, streamers, a rockabilly skirt -
Babe I'm sending you a psychic truckload of love
Just watch out for tear gas and heartbreak.
